Mirella Ntahonsigaye

Research Assistant, Carleton University

Mirella is a doctoral student in Communication and Media Studies at Carleton University. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Media, Communication, and Film, as well as a Master of Arts in Communication and Social Justice from the University of Windsor. Her major research paper, “Fake News Hysteria,” engaged in a critical analysis of Orson Welles’ 1938 radio production of War of the Worlds, in juxtaposition to the contemporary dominant discourse of ‘fake news.’ Her research interests include: material media and cultural techniques; media theory and epistemology; histor[icit]y and futurity; Afro/Black Studies; archival research and curation. Her work is drawn towards cultural artefacts such as film, literature, and 1930-50s radio.
