Sarah E.K. Smith is a scholar and curator whose research explores contemporary art and museums. Currently, Sarah is Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Information & Media Studies at Western University, and is also Affiliated Faculty at Queen’s University, where she works with graduate students in the Cultural Studies Program. Sarah maintains an active independent curatorial practice and previously held the role of Curator of Contemporary Art at the Agnes Etherington Art Centre. Her curatorial projects focus on contemporary art, with specific interest in socially and politically engaged artwork. Major exhibitions include I’m Not Myself At All(2015) and Sorting Daemons: Art, Surveillance Regimes and Social Control co-curated with Jan Allen (2010-11). Sarah has also curated several screenings comprised of a range of video work, from experimental pieces to documentaries.
